Women Artists in Muslim Society – Panel Discussion

A Panel Discussion is set, in conjunction with the Widowsweave exhibit for April 30th 5:15-6:45.

Morehshin Allahyari, Hale Ekinci, Rabbya Naseer & Renee Tadros will discuss internal and external influences on creating art in Muslim societies, their experience in their counties of origin and in the United States. Melissa Potter, Assistant Professor at Columbia College Chicago, will introduce. Kevin Valentine,  project director and creator of Widowsweave and founder of Artistactivist, will moderate.

Elect Peace

We had an very heartfelt celebration of the Iraqi election on Loyola Beach, after adjusting our goal to represent the corrected number of 325 elected.  See results at birddenoftruth blog.

Also – check out Wafaa Bilal’s …and Counting begining at 8pm tonight.  This is one amazing statement as to the inequity of war and it’s aftermath.

Action Days on the River

Kevin Valentine will be drawing lines in the sand as part of his Widowsweave Project with students from Principia College on the Mississippi and Illinois Rivers north of St. Louis this weekend.  This is first college visit for the Widowsweave Project, and the artist is enthusiastic about the opportunity to interact with the students.
